Judge who banned Valentines Day now threatens to ban social media
Reportedly, he even started crying while saying how his feelings are hurt because the offensive content exists on the internet.
Islamabad High Court (IHC) Judge Honourable Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui in a hearing on blasphemous content has threatened to ban the whole social media in Pakistan if Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) can't curb 'blasphemous' content on the internet. Reportedly, he even started crying while saying how his feelings are hurt because the offensive content exists on the internet.
According to details, Justice Siddiqui has even lamented PTA as incompetent saying the authority can't do something as "simple" as blocking content. The Justice also summoned Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan -- who many believe is his close ally -- to the next hearing. The interior minister will be asked to explain as to why the government has failed to block the blasphemous content and what steps is it taking now.
*coughs*How does the honourable Judge know the offensive content exists on the internet? Does he look for it? One wouldn't expect an ordinary user to google the blasphemous material while online because as per the same Pakistani laws googling blasphemous content would itself be blasphemous!*coughs*
Other times Justice Siddiqui has been in the news
When he banned Valentines Day
Justice Siddiqui was in news just a month ago when he banned Valentines Day celebrations in the country. He had instructed Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) to ensure the mainstream media airs no programming with regards to the Valentines Day as he believed this promotes vulgarity and mischief in society.
The PEMRA VS Aamir Liaquat case
As per the reports, Justice Siddiqui clearly disregarded PEMRA chief Absar Alam's assertion of hate speech and took pro-Aamir Liaquat stance.
Support for Lal Masjid and ISIS
Justice Shaukat Aziz openly showed his support for and provided legal assistance to the notorious Lal Masjid cleric Maulana Abdul Aziz who has openly declared allegiance to the internationally notorious ISIS. I couldn't independently verify this so do your own deliberation before believing it.
Justice Aziz is often criticized harshly on social media and one might wonder if the motive behind his threatening to block social media is personal.
